In other words, the owner of a housing cooperative unit does not own the apartment itself.<\/p>\n<p>For both the owner of the housing cooperative unit and the housing cooperation, there are laws and rules to follow.<\/p>\n<p>Each housing association has statutes that the members of the housing cooperative are obliged to follow. For example, there may be rules of conduct for renovation. The Housing Act sets out what needs to be included in the statutes. However, the members of the cooperative are responsible for keeping their own apartment in good condition through regular maintenance.
