How does marriage affect what you own?
In a marriage, a series of rights and obligations arise between the persons. One of these rights is the matrimonial property right, which means the right to share half of all assets that are marital property if there is a division of property.
In a prenuptial agreement, the spouses can agree on which property of the marriage will be private property and thus excluded from a future division of property.

A prenuptial agreement allows you to decide how your property should be distributed between you. For example, this could involve a property that has been in one partner’s family for generations or ensuring that a partner with children from a previous relationship can leave specific personal items to them.
Another example, which is especially important, is if one spouse owns a business with other individuals. In such cases, it is advisable to ensure that their shares in the company are designated as private property. Otherwise, the business could become part of a potential property division.
